Combined Door Solution for Safety and Durability
Combined Door Solution for Industrial Doors: Security at Night, Durability During the Day
When a door opening has to meet different requirements around the clock, a single door is often not enough. This was exactly the challenge recently faced by a customer of Weglehner GmbH: The door system needed to be burglary-resistant and securely closed at night, while during the day it had to withstand intensive forklift traffic—and at the same time reliably protect against drafts. With a customized combined door solution, we successfully brought these requirements together in one project.
The Challenge: One Door, Two Requirement Profiles
In many warehouses and production halls, the door opening is the critical interface between security, operational processes, and energy efficiency. Our customer needed a solution that:
- is burglary-resistant and securely closed at night,
- withstands daily forklift and goods traffic during the day without losing service life due to frequent opening and closing,
- effectively protects the hall from drafts and heat loss,
- and integrates smoothly into existing operational processes.
A standard door alone could not meet these demands. The solution: an intelligent combination of two coordinated door systems.
Our Solution: Roller Door and High-Speed Door in Combined Operation
For this project, Weglehner GmbH planned and implemented a combined door system that functionally connects two types of doors:
Roller Door for Night Operation
Outside of operating hours, a robust roller door fully closes the opening and provides burglary protection. It forms the outer, stable closure of the hall and ensures security when no personnel are on site.
High-Speed Door for Day Operation
During operating hours, a high-speed door takes over the separation of the opening. Thanks to its high opening and closing speed, it is ideally suited for frequent forklift traffic, noticeably reduces drafts and energy loss, and reliably withstands daily operational stress.
This combination ensures that each door uses its strengths exactly where needed: the roller door for security and weather protection at night, the high-speed door for speed and durability during daytime operation.
Everything from a Single Source: From Substructure to Electrical Installation
A combined door places special demands on planning and execution, as two door systems must be precisely coordinated both technically and structurally. Weglehner GmbH carried out the entire conversion independently:
- Installation of the substructure for stable and precise integration of both door systems
- Electrical connection work for safe, compliant, and reliable operation
- Coordination and commissioning of both door systems in interaction
By handling everything from a single source, we were able to avoid interface issues, keep construction time short, and deliver a solution that works seamlessly from the outset.
Your Advantage: Customized Door Solutions for Maximum Requirements
This project shows how individual and well-thought-out door solutions can be when security, operational processes, and energy efficiency are all in focus.
