Efficient special scissor lift table solution in existing building – space-saving technology without intervention in the floor structure
Scissor lift table special solution in existing building: bridging height differences efficiently and without floor recess
In modernization projects or operational expansions in existing buildings, height differences between two levels often need to be bridged efficiently – ideally without interfering with the existing building structure. In a recent project, a production area was to be connected by a scissor lift table, but without any structural modification of the existing floor slab. In addition, the installation situation had to be designed as space-saving as possible, since the available movement area around the lift table is very limited. We developed and installed a solution that is technically precise, compact and designed for maximum safety – and at the same time works completely without a floor recess.
Challenge: Minimal installation height, maximum functionality
Due to their design, scissor lift tables require a certain overall height in the closed position, which is normally compensated by recessing them into the floor. Since this was not possible in the existing building, an alternative solution had to be created to ensure low-barrier access to the platform. The usual standard solution – a fixed drive-on plate – was ruled out due to the restricted space, as it requires a lot of room in the working area and can significantly affect the logistical process. A solution was therefore required that offers the same functionality as a classic drive-on plate, but is significantly more compact and can be flexibly adapted to daily operating processes.
Technical implementation: Hinged drive-on plate with gas spring assistance
To meet these requirements, we developed a hinged drive-on plate that compensates the height difference during operation and can simply be folded up after use to free up valuable space. To keep operation ergonomic even with frequent load changes, the folding system was equipped with a gas spring. This gas spring assistance reduces the operating force required, ensures a damped and controlled movement and thus minimizes the risk of injury. At the same time, wear is kept low because the movement sequence is guided in a stable manner, which increases the service life of all moving components. Thanks to the compact folding design, the available space is used optimally without restricting the lift table function, and efficient material flow is ensured even in confined conditions.
Safety equipment: Guard rails, markings and standard compliance
In addition to the technical mechanics, safety was a central focus of the project. The lift table was fitted with robust guard rails that reliably protect areas at risk of falling and enable the safe transport of materials. The geometry of the guard rails was designed in such a way that they do not collide with existing building structures during the lifting movement while at the same time complying with the relevant safety regulations. We also fitted all required safety labels, test markings and information signs to the frame structure. These not only ensure compliant documentation, but also make maintenance and inspection work during ongoing operation easier.
Installation in existing building: Precision despite confined installation situation
Since there were no large installation routes available in the existing building, the lift table was installed in several precisely planned steps. Using precise measurements, we ensured that all components were perfectly adapted to the existing structures. The design was configured so that the resulting forces are introduced in a controlled manner into the existing floor slab – without additional foundation reinforcement. The project demonstrates that even complex lift table systems can be realized in existing buildings when planning, technology and experience interact optimally.
Conclusion: Maximum efficiency in minimum space
With this installation, we were once again able to demonstrate that we offer customized, technically sophisticated and particularly space-saving solutions for challenges in existing buildings. By combining a scissor lift table, a hinged drive-on plate and gas spring-assisted mechanics, a highly efficient lifting system was created that is ideally adapted to the spatial conditions. For companies looking for reliable, compact and safe lifting technology, we develop customized designs that integrate seamlessly into existing buildings – without compromising on function, safety or space. We create solutions where others reach their limits – technically precise, safe and efficient.
